Roing ADS arrests 5 in drug related cases, seize suspected heroin

ROING, 6 Jul: The Anti Drug Squad (ADS) of the Roing police arrested five drug peddlers/consumers and seized over 10 grams approximately of suspected heroin from three different raids conducted since Monday.

As per police reports, on 4 July, following specific inputs, the ADS team led by DSP Ringu Ngupok apprehended one Anjanu Umbrey (18) with 2 gms of drugs suspected to be heroin. A cash amount of Rs. 1300, suspected to be obtained from selling drugs, was also seized from his possession.

On the next day, the team intercepted three boys at Meka village who were returning from Namsai area after purchasing drugs.

The apprehended boys were identified as Kading Pertin(22), Getem Saring(27), and Disang Perme(21). Reportedly, 4.14 gms of drugs suspected to be heroin, a cash amount of Rs. 2010, two mobile handsets, one syringe, a cigarette packet and a motorcycle (Bullet 350 CC) were seized from their possession in presence of Roing Magistrate.

The ADS team also arrested one drug peddler Awuta Pulu(31) from Bhishmaknagar village on 6 July, and seized approx. 4 gms of heroin from his possession. A cash amount of Rs. 1,27,140/- was also recovered and seized from Pulu as suspected sale proceeds of drugs.

Three separate cases have been registered against all the culprits under the NDPS Act at PS Roing.

The police have so far, arrested 22 persons against 13 registered cases under NDPS Act during this year and confiscated huge quantity of contraband drugs, syringe, sale proceeds etc.

“We appeal to all to cooperate with the police in this fight to root out this dreaded menace from Lower Dibang Valley district,” the police appealed.
