DAPORIJO, 7 Jul: The National Institute for Empowerment of Persons with Intellectual Disabilities (NIEPID) conducted an ‘orientation training on persons with intellectual disability, their identification, early intervention and rehabilitation facilities given by government’ at Singhik Hall here in Upper Subansiri district on Thursday.
The programme was attended by 132 participants, including ASHAs, anganwadi workers and ICFS staffers from across the district.
Deputy Commissioner Mika Nyori, who chaired the programme, asked the participants to help people with intellectual disabilities residing in different areas of the district. He also asked the trainees to “understand the correct method of early identification, early intervention and training of people with disabilities.”
Giteripa ZPM Yami Hali urged the NIEPID to conduct similar training programmes in other panchayat segments also.
Earlier, four members from the union ministry of social justice & empowerment visited various schools in the town and interacted with students and teachers.
