The state cabinet led by Chief Minister Pema Khandu recently announced that the cabinet has taken the decision to cancel all the officiating/functional appointments on an out-of-turn basis in all government departments. An action taken report shall be submitted within 30 days by the secretary/head of the autonomous body concerned to the chief secretary to ensure that the order has been implemented. As soon as the decision became public, the people started to wonder whether it would be implemented in the true sense. In the past also, such decisions were taken but were never implemented properly.
The cabinet under the leadership of CM Pema Khandu has taken a bold decision and everyone should extend support to it. However, the state government also should make sure that all the departments conduct DPC meetings on a regular basis. It is alleged that most of the departments do not conduct DPC meetings on time, thereby depriving the employees of their right to get promotion on time. The state government should pass a strict order to all the departments to conduct DPC meetings on time. Strict action should be initiated against those who fail to do so.
