CHANGLANG, 5 Aug: North Eastern Council (NEC) Secretary Moses Chalai and the NEC joint director (planning) visited the units funded under the NERCORMP, CCRMS Changlang, on 4 August.
Later, during a meeting at the DC’s conference hall here, the NERCORMP DPD made a presentation on the various SHGs-, CBOs- and FPOs-run industries, such as food processing units, bakery units, cane and bamboo industries, etc, in Changlang, funded by the NEC.
Impressed by the cucurmin content (7.6 percent) in the turmeric powder produced by a food processing industry based in Khimiyong-Kantang block, Chalai suggested focusing on it and trying to “take it to the next level,” adding that the NEC “is ready to give its full support in taking it to the next level.”
He also suggested focusing on products unique to the area. (DIPRO)
