CHANGLANG, 22 Dec: Changlang South MLA Phosum Khimhum inaugurated a community hall, executed by the WRD department, and augmentation of water supply, executed by the PHED, in Ranglum village in Changlang district on Wednesday, during a Seva Aapke Dwar (SAD) camp organised by the district administration at the village.
After the inauguration, the MLA interacted with the residents of Ranghill, Ranglum, Old Rangran and New Rangran villages, and requested the public and the young generation to abstain from drugs and other narcotic substances, saying that “the drug menace is the main hurdle or obstacle for any kind of human development.”
Changlang DC Sunny K Singh cited bad road communication as “the main hurdle for these four villages,” and urged the MLA to look into the matter.
He also requested the public and the youths to abstain from drugs “and focus on other development activities.”
The DC further informed that a rehabilitation centre would be established in Ranglum village.
Assam Rifles Commandant, Col Nikhil Pawar said that “the Assam Rifles always stands for the welfare of the people,” and informed that the force is currently providing crash courses for students and unemployed youths of the district.
PHED EE Toni Taki informed about the water treatment plant and said that “such types of projects/schemes will not be received from the central government in the near future.
“So it is the responsibility of the villagers to protect the sustainability of the source of water and the WTP,” he said, and also urged the public to avoid felling trees and jhum cultivation.
The DMO urged the public to avail government schemes available under the health department, such as the CMMAY, Dulari Kanya, etc,
SP Mihin Gambo also spoke.
The MLA also inaugurated the SAD camp, themed ‘Prashashan Gaon Ki Aur’, in the village, during which government departments provided services to the villagers. (DIPRO)
