SHG members trained on candle making

NAMSAI, 28 Dec: A NABARAD-sponsored training programme on candle making under the Micro Enterprise Development Programme was conducted for the SHGs of Namsai district here on Wednesday.

A total of 30 SHG members underwent 15 days of training. It was arranged in such a way that they could start their own ventures.

NABARD DDM Kamal Roy highlighted the various developmental initiatives of NABARD for the upliftment of the rural masses in farm and off-farm sectors.

He emphasized on the production of finished products with market linkage keeping competitive prices.  Ray advised the SHG members to frame a business model and start production on a small scale.

ADI (i/c) Dusu Tatu emphasized the importance of skill training that would enhance the socio-economic status of rural masses, especially the women entrepreneurs.

Cluster coordinator SVEP, ArSRLM John Tage highlighted the Startup Village Entrepreneurship Program-a sub-component of Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana – National Rural Livelihoods Mission (DAY-NRLM) of the ministry of rural development.

BLCCT president Chandan Prasad said that the training will enable the rural women to improve their skills in producing different types of candles. He assured full support on supplying raw materials at a cheaper rate.

ArSRLM BMM Ronald Dkhar Bagwar also spoke.

Certificates were provided to the trainees at the end of the training. Sewing machines were also provided to nine SHG members at a subsidized rate, who underwent training on sewing machine operator sponsored by the NABARD.

The programme was implemented by Bethel Life Care Charitable Trust (BLCCT) in collaboration with Arunachal State Rural Livelihoods Mission (ArSRLM), block mission management unit, Namsai.
