AALO, 10 Feb: A total of 120 male and female youths registered for skill development training during a ‘skill mela’ organised here in West Siang district by the skill development department on Friday.
Industry Deputy Director Tayi Rakshap, who along with West Siang DC Penga Tato attended the event, highlighted the importance of skill development, and informed the youths that “hundreds of unemployment youths become self-employed or entrepreneurs.”
CDPO (i/c) Bahi Koyu advised the participating students and youths about dignity of labour, while the DC advised them to “avail the opportunities provided by the state and central governments.”
He added that “the government alone cannot provide white-collar jobs,” and said that, “instead of running from pillar to post for jobs, the youths should try to become self-reliant and self-employed.”
Representatives of Nirjuli-based Dadi Humgo Charitable Society informed the participants about job placement opportunities that they may avail of “after completion of the course.”
The labour & employment ministry urged the job seekers to “register their details” at the labour office here, and assured that they would be provided assistance “for further skill-related job matching services” under the National Career Service.
HoDs, students of the government higher secondary school here, and unemployed youths attended the programme. (DIPRO)
