ZIRO, 21 Feb: Over 200 saplings of cherry and thuja trees were planted during a plantation drive organised by the Hiichi Youth Front at various schools here in Lower Subansiri district on Monday to create awareness about the importance of preserving biodiversity.
DC Bamin Nime, along with villagers, goan buras and gaon buris, youths, school principals, and Hiichi Youth Front president Michi Byai planted the saplings in the premises of the government higher secondary school in Hija, the secondary school in Dutta, and the secondary school in Tanyang Putu Diibo.
The DC commended the Hiichi Youth Front and advocated organising more such drives.
