PASIGHAT, 17 Jun: Altogether 115 farmers from FPOs and farmers’ clubs in different districts of the state benefitted from a ‘mega distribution programme’ organised jointly by Varanasi (UP)-based ICAR-IIVR, the College of Horticulture & Forestry (CHF) here, and scientists from Bengaluru (Karnataka)-based ICAR-IIHR on Saturday.
CHF Dean Dr BN Hazarika apprised the participants of “the significance of vegetable crops in human nutrition and income security,” while Dr TK Behera highlighted “the potential of the Northeast region in vegetable crops production and the key role of Varanasi IIVR in bringing revolution towards production and productivity of vegetable crops in the country.”
Bengaluru IIHR principal scientist Dr PC Tripathi highlighted the activities of the IIHR, and gave assurance that the IIHR would assist the farmers of the region.
CHF faculty members and KVK staffers also attended the programme.
Farm inputs like seeds of vegetables, khurpi, knapsack sprayers, irrigation pipe, spade, etc, were distributed to the farmers during the programme.
