BORDURIA, 15 Jul: Borduria-Bogapani MLA Wanglin Lowangdong inaugurated the NSS unit of the government higher secondary school (GHSS) here in Tirap district on Friday.
“This is a red letter day in the history of GHSS, Borduria,” Lowangdong said after inaugurating the unit.
He lauded NSS State Liaison Officer Dr AK Mishra for establishing the unit in the school, which, he said, “will immensely help the students develop their personality and confidence.”
Highlighting the benefits of being an NSS volunteer, Lowangdong said that “the sole aim of the scheme is to provide hands-on experience to young students in delivering community service.”
He exhorted the students to serve the society by enrolling themselves as NSS volunteers.
Expressing concern over the poor performance of students in the CBSE examinations, he said that “a revolution in the education department is required to improve the education scenario,” adding that “the education minister is very much concerned about it.”
The MLA announced that he would provide a PA set to the school at an early date.
Dr Mishra highlighted the aims and objectives of the NSS in India and the role played by NSS volunteers during the Covid-19 period.
GHSS Principal Hamnya Lowang also spoke.
CO Lim Modi, HoDs, PRI leaders, the chief of Pansumthong, and GBs attended the programme. (DIPRO)
