The initiative by the Changlang district administration to establish New Age Learning Centres in Changlang district will significantly contribute to bringing children back to libraries and introducing them to various innovations in a welcoming environment. A brainchild of Deputy Commissioner and IAS officer Sunny Singh, NALC is a state-of-the-art library designed to promote club-based activities, especially literary and eco-clubs, enabling children to embark on paths of self-discovery. It has already won the Prime Minister’s Award for Excellence in Public Administration in the category of innovation.
The oil and coal-rich district, once infamous for insurgency and drugs, witnessed the opening of its third NALC at the Government Higher Secondary School, Changlang. This latest addition comes after the success of the centers in Miao and the Changlang district library. All three NALCs are equipped with a wide range of books, with a special focus on materials dedicated to board exams and nationwide competitive exams such as JEE, NEET, NDA, and others.
Such centers should be replicated in other parts of the state as well. The government should collaborate with private individuals and organizations to establish these centers for new-age learning throughout the state. Innovation is what makes learning interesting.
