Sangdo couple wins 2nd edition of married couple fashion show

ITANAGAR, 24 Oct: The couple of Firam Sangdo and Sanjana Beyong Sangdo was declared the winner of the 2nd edition of the ‘Arunachal Married Couple Fashion Show’ in the grand finale held at the DK Convention Hall here on 21 October.

The couple walked away with a cash prize of Rs 4 lakhs, along with the winner’s trophy.

The couple of Nagbia Kasa and Charu Dumper Nangbia was adjudged the 1st runner-up, and the couple of Komol Noroh and

Yabom Noroh was declared the 2nd runner-up, and won cash prize of Rs 2 lakhs and Rs 1 lakh, respectively, along with trophies.

The Sangdo couple also won the ‘Mr & Mrs audience choice’ sub-title, which came with a cash prize of Rs 50,000.

Licha Mahin & Licha Memeq, Hibung Raja & Nangbia Pinia Hibung, Tapor Membom (Yubo) & Yomnia Ete Membom (Yubo), and Kago Sambiyo & Mihin Rinya Kago won the sub-title of Mr & Mrs Confident, Mr & Mrs Best Couple, Mr & Mrs Talent, and Mr & Mrs Catwalk, respectively, and each couple won a cash prize of Rs 50,000.

The event was organised by the Nya Tani Foundation Society (NTFS), with the aim of “finding out the hidden talent amidst the married couples, and to create awareness on drug addiction and HIV/AIDS,” it informed in a release.

Agriculture Minister Tage Taki, who attended the grand finale of the event, commended the organiser “for coming out with the unique concept of married couple fashion show.”

“Through this show we can bring positive changes in the society by creating strong bonding of wife and husband,” Taki said, and added that “such show can help us to fight against the menace of drugs and create awareness on HIV/AIDS and early marriage.”

Expressing similar views about the positive impact of the fashion show, Tali MLA Jikke Tako said that, “in order to fulfill the objective of this show, the organiser should make effort to bring pan-Arunachal identity by deriving more contestants from all over Arunachal Pradesh.”

Advocate Jyoti Jongluju and NTFS chairman Biri Tako also spoke.
