Murder accused remanded to judicial custody

RUKSIN, 18 Nov: Murder accused Shibu Baishya has been sent to 14-day judicial custody.

Baishya, who killed his friend Ajoy Das with an axe in broad daylight at the Birem-Sibor WRC field near Ruksin town on 15 November, was on Thursday produced before the court of the judicial magistrate in Pasighat, which remanded him to fortnight-long judicial custody.

He is currently lodged in the Pasighat district jail.

During interrogation, the accused admitted to his crime, Ruksin PS OC C Joseph said.

As per Baishya’s statement, the police said, the deceased had a love affair with one of the nieces of the accused, which was opposed by her family. Baishya reportedly murdered his friend as he (Das) had threatened to abduct the girl and marry her forcibly.

The investigating officer collected blood samples, the severed head, and other body parts of the deceased, and sent them to a forensic laboratory for examination.

The accused has been arrested under Sections 302/341/34 of the IPC. The police are also investigating if there was any other factor involved with the murder.
