PARSHURAM KUND, 18 Nov: Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein on Saturday said that a master plan for the Rs 150 crore Parshuram Kund project has been prepared and instructions given to prepare a DPR accordingly, for further submission to the central government.

Reviewing the preparations for the upcoming Parshuram Kund Festival (PKF)-2024 here in Lohit district, Mein also informed that a 51-ft statue of sage Parshuram, to be donated by Vipra Foundation, will be unveiled in January next year, “right after the PKF-24.”

He assured to provide grants-in-aid for the Parshuram Kund, and instructed the executing agencies to “expedite all pending works for completion by March 2024.”

Mein also inspected the ongoing infrastructure project at the Parshuram Kund pilgrimage site, constructed under the PRASAD scheme.

Meanwhile, founding member of Vipra Foundation, Sushil Ojha, informed that “the making of the statue of sage Parshuram has been completed and is expected to reach the site from Durgapur in the next 15 to 20 days, following which the installation work will be completed by December this year.”

The upcoming festival will feature cultural displays and trade fairs, showcasing the indigenous cultural heritage of the land, as well as exhibition of products by local SHGs and small businesses.

Storing of liquor in food stalls will be strictly prohibited, and adventure activities will be planned for tourists visiting the festival. Priority will be given to effective management of ailing and elderly pilgrims, as well as ensuring round-the-clock upkeep of washrooms, waiting sheds, and other public spaces at the festival site.

The review meeting was attended by, among others, DC Shashvat Saurabh, HoDs, members of the Parshuram Dham Sewa Ashram Samity, and members of Vipra Foundation. (DCM’s PR Cell)
