Veer Bal Diwas observed

TEZU, 26 Dec: Veer Bal Diwas was observed at the Govt Middle School in RWD Colony here in Lohit district by the women & child development department, in collaboration with NGO Green Foundation, on Tuesday.

The event featured drawing competitions, “including drawing competition of freedom fighters,” besides “a patriotic song singing competition, a poetry writing competition, and an essay writing competition on freedom fighters,” the school said.

District Research Officer Jonomo Rondo scrutinised the essays and the poems, which was followed by the patriotic song singing competition. The DRO felicitated the winners.

Veer Bal Diwas is observed annually on 26 December to honour the martyrdom of Guru Gobind Singh’s sahibzadas Baba Fateh Singh and Zorawar Singh.

The day was observed also by KV No 2 Itanagar.

Besides union MoS for Education Dr Rajkumar Ranjan Singh, the event was attended by Education Secretary Pige Ligu, KV No 1 Principal Vinay Kumar, and other distinguished guests.

“The students showcased cultural performances and presented speeches on the valour of the young warriors who fought for the country,” the school stated in a release.

Class 12 student Angam Bagra drew a charcoal painting of the MoS and presented it to him.

Singh in his address shared inspiring stories of young heroes who played a pivotal role in India’s struggle for independence.

He commended the school for paying homage to Guru Gobind Singh’s sahibzadas. (With DIPRO input)
