Editor,
A proper reform in the APPSC, as we can all agree, is definitely the need of the hour. Though every new chairman makes big promises on the day of their appointment, previous attempts have miserably failed to bring any desired changes, namely, a commission that is free from corruption, is transparent, and just doesn’t cause one controversy after another. It unnecessarily wastes everyone’s time, energy and resources, including of our government.
Therefore, as a state, if we are to move ahead, proper reform in the APPSC is extremely crucial, and this can’t be achieved without bringing in the primary stakeholders, ie, the citizens, in the reformation process. It has been already done before, even in our country; for example the RTI Act, 2005. So what is stopping us?
As the representative of the student community and aspirants of various exams, the PAJSC must be therefore made a participant in the framing of the new SOP (and the Arunachal Pradesh Public Examination Bill) to ensure free and fair exams under the APPSC henceforth. Without this, nothing substantial will be changing. And who will be losing the most if the things don’t change? Who will be morally responsible for all the damages, seen and unseen?
