ANINI, 18 Jul: The Dibang Valley Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) celebrated the 96th foundation day of the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) here on 16 July.
To mark the occasion, the KVK organised programmes such as exhibition of KVK products, and registration of farmers’ details on the Kisan Sarathi app.
The exhibited products included jeevamrit, a component in natural farming which can act as both biofertiliser and biopesticides; vermiwash, a byproduct of vermicompost, which is also important for good soil health; value-added products like prawn pickle, maize cake, soya milk, and soya paneer; and baskets and coasters made of locally available straw.
“The main motive behind exhibition of such products was to promote organic farming and value addition of the crops for self sustenance, non-wastage of the products and income generation of the farming community,” the KVK informed in a release.
The programme was attended by 20 farmers, besides the KVK head, SHG members, and others.
