State BJP observes Vajpayee’s death anniversary

ITANAGAR, 16 Aug: The state BJP observed the 6th death anniversary of former prime minister and exemplary statesman Atal Bihari Vajpayee at its headquarters here on Friday by paying floral tributes to his portrait and observing a two-minute silence as a mark of respect to the departed soul.

Speaking on the occasion, state BJP secretary Taring Tiri highlighted the pivotal role that late Vajpayee had played in boosting the nation’s progress and taking it to the 21st century in a wide range of sectors.

“Atal Bihari Vajpayee was born on 25th December,1925, in Gwalior. He was the face of the BJP for decades and was the first non-Congress prime minister to have served a full term in office. He passed away at the AIIMS in Delhi on 16 August, 2018,” he said.

Tiri said that, after coming to power in 2014, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in order to honour the former PM and Bharat Ratna recipient, declared that 25 December would be observed as Good Governance Day every year on his birthday,” adding that “the day is significant for BJP workers and supporters, who take pride in the party’s achievements, and renews their commitment to its ideology.”

District in-charge Loku Sonu highlighted the various achievements the country made during Vajpayee’s tenure. Media in-charge Dolang Tako, media co-convener Nima Sange, and joint office secretary Beli Gadi also spoke.

Among others, party spokesperson Techi Necha, state ST Morcha president Kame Yangfo, state Kishan Morcha president Gumsen Lollen, and party workers were present on the occasion.
