DC visits drug de-addiction centre

YINGKIONG, 17 Nov: Upper Siang deputy commissioner Talo Jerang visited the Sudhaar Ghar (Drug De-addiction Centre) and interacted with the inmates and staff. During his visit, he counseled the inmates to stay drug-free for the rest of their lives by engaging in more socially productive activities.

The DC also distributed edible items to all the inmates and inspected the main entrance gate of the facility. He assured the staff that funds would be mobilized for renovation of the gate.

Later in the day, the DC attended the ‘Closing Meeting’ of the LAQSHYA/NQAS (Labour Room Quality Improvement Initiative/ National Quality Assurance Standards) at the district hospital in Yingkiong.

In her debriefing, Dr. Gerik Jini, State External Assessor for LAQSHYA/NQAS, highlighted the gaps observed during the assessment. She emphasized the importance of inter-sectoral coordination and support from line departments to ensure uninterrupted healthcare services for those in need.

Medical superintendent Dr. Karo Teng, along with all section in-charges, provided their feedback and assured that the identified gaps would be addressed on a priority basis. The medical superintendent also stressed the need for installing an incinerator to dispose of biomedical waste in a more scientific manner.

While appreciating the hospital management for their continuous efforts to raise the standards of care, the DC encouraged them to focus on addressing the identified gaps and sustaining the improvements in the years to come. He also urged all healthcare providers to work diligently to offer quality services to the patients in need. (DIPRO)
