CHARJU, 5 Dec: A delegation of the Narco Coordination Centre (NCORD), comprising HoDs and led by Tirap Deputy Commissioner Techu Aran, visited the rehabilitation centre Care Me Home here on Thursday.
Care Me Home chairperson Sontung L Bangsiaprovided an overview of the centre’s activities, and highlighted its two primary projects: focusing on detoxification and rehabilitation, and targeted interventions addressing HIV/AIDS and hepatitis.
Additional Commissioner Namneet Singh, who was also a part of the team, engaged in an interactive session with the inmates. He discussed the harmful effects of drug abuse and encouraged the inmates to support one another on their path to recovery.
Superintendent of Police Singjatla Singpho expressed concern over the widespread impact of drug abuse on the community. He praised the patients who have successfully recovered, and commended the centre’s staff for their dedication and relentless efforts.
The deputy commissioner emphasised that “drug abuse is not just an individual issue but a societal challenge affecting families and communities.” He applauded the inmates for seeking help and taking steps toward recovery, and urged them to lead drug-free lives and serve as role models for the society.
During his inspection of the centre, Aran was particularly impressed by the inmates’ engagement in handicraft-making and the quality of their finished products.
To further support these activities, he announced the facilitation of raw materials to aid the inmates in their endeavours. (DIPRO)
