KVK distributes chicks to beneficiaries

HAWAI, 16 Dec: The Anjaw Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) on Monday distributed 2,000 Vanaraja chicks, along with drinker, feeder and feed, to 30 beneficiaries of Kaho and Kibithoo villages to help them establish poultry units.

Vanaraja is a dual-purpose breed which grows very fast and lays eggs early.

During the programme, senior scientist Dr. Debasis Sasmal explained the basics of poultry management, especially during winter and acute cold conditions of Anjaw district’s vibrant villages Kaho and Kibithoo.

Subject matter specialist Dr. Peter Singh encouraged the farmers to adopt integrated farming systems to enhance their income.

Gram chairperson of Kaho and Kibithoo villages Kheti Meyor encouraged the beneficiaries to become role models for other farmers of nearby villages.
