WRGC observes Energy Conservation Day

DEOMALI, 16 Dec: The National Service Scheme (NSS) unit of Wangcha Rajkumar Government College (WRGC) here in Tirap district hosted a lecture programme, in collaboration with the Assam Rifles (AR), to mark the National Energy Conservation Day on Sunday.

The event, held at the college campus, was attended by, among others, WRGC principal Dr. Watsen Bangsia, 44 AR OC Captain Akshay Bhagwat, NSS programme officer Ngamwang Lowang, panchayat members of Deomali block, and 40 NSS volunteers.

In his keynote address, Captain Bhagwat spoke on the importance of conserving energy, calling it “a moral obligation of every individual towards securing a brighter and sustainable future.” He reminded the gathering that even the smallest efforts to conserve energy – switching off lights when away, using renewable resources or reducing waste – could collectively create a lasting impact for generations to come.

“Each step we take today in preserving energy paves the way for a more promising tomorrow,” he said.

Lowang urged the NSS volunteers to become beacons of change in their communities. He encouraged them to lead by example, incorporating energy-saving habits into their daily routines – whether at home, within educational institutions, or in their immediate surroundings.

“As youths and leaders of tomorrow, your actions have the power to inspire and transform society into a vibrant and sustainable one,” he said.

The lecture resonated deeply with the audience, inspiring thoughtful discussions on the role of young minds in addressing global environmental challenges. (DIPRO)
