ITANAGAR, 16 Dec: In a case of human-animal conflict, a 22-year-old youth was seriously injured in a wild elephant attack in Nowbangha Nalla, around 7 kms from the Banderdewa police station, on Monday.
The injured youth was identified as Chukhu Obi, a resident of Dobam village in Banderdewa circle, SP Mihin Gambo said.
The elephant attacked him while he was going to the forest to check on his mithuns.
Upon receiving information, a police team led by Banderdewa Police Station OC Kipa Hamak, along with local residents, immediately rushed to the spot and rescued him.
He was evacuated in a police vehicle to the Tomo Riba Institute of Health & Medical Sciences for urgent medical treatment.
