Training prog on enhancing backyard poultry farming

BASAR, 7 Mar: Ten selected women beneficiaries from Basar, Tirbin and Dari circles participated in a three-day training programme on ‘Enhancing backyard poultry farming among tribal women of Arunachal Pradesh’, conducted at the ICAR Arunachal Pradesh Centre here in Leparada district from 5-7 March.

The training aimed to empower the women by equipping them with practical knowledge and skills in backyard poultry farming.

The programme was conducted by senior scientist Dr Joken Bam, along with senior scientist Dr Doni Jini, and Technical Officer Dr Bali Yomgam, who provided hands-on training to the participants in brooder construction, brooder management, poultry care, nutrition, common diseases and their medications, biosafety measures, and care management of layers.

Additionally, the women were trained in vaccination techniques to ensure better health management of poultry stock.

To support their entrepreneurial journey, each participant was provided with 100-days-old Vanaraja chicks, poultry starter feed, feeders, drinkers, veterinary medicines, and vaccines.

This initiative is expected to help the women establish independent backyard poultry farms, contributing to their economic stability and livelihood enhancement.
