Papum Pare, Namsai launch SVC 3.0

ITANAGAR, 17 Mar: The Papum Pare District Health Society (DHS) launched the special vaccination campaign (SVC) 3.0 at Tigdo-III anganwadi centre on 17 March.

The campaign aims to scale up Td10 and Td16 coverage, achieve 95 percent MR1 and MR2 coverage, and vaccinate all eligible children with Pentavalent-1 vaccine.

Additionally, the campaign seeks to eliminate zero-dose children.

Papum Pare DMO Dr Rina Ronya said that every child in Papum Pare has been vaccinated at least once.

Ronya, who is also the vice chairman of the DHS, thanked DRCHO Dr Neyang Nitik, anganwadi workers, ASHAs and nurses for successfully implementing the SVC 3.0.

WHO SMO Dr Tana Taka highlighted the campaign’s objectives, which are eliminating measles’ rubella by 2026, vaccinating 30 percent of unvaccinated children with Pentavalent vaccine by the same year, and increasing TB vaccination rates. He acknowledged the challenges faced by health workers and sought collective contribution to achieve the goals, emphasising the importance of timely vaccination for children’s safety.

Dr Nitik, who is also the CEO of the DHS, highlighted the importance of the pneumonia vaccination drive and emphasised the significance of this vaccination opportunity, and urged parents to get their children vaccinated. She also informed the gathering about the upcoming National Deworming Day.

In Namsai district, 25 students of Class 5, two students of Class 10 and one child were vaccinated for Td10, Td16 and MR1, respectively during the SVC 3.0, launched at the Government Secondary School in Manmow on Monday.

Namsai DC CR Khampa launched the campaign in the presence of DDSE Pokdey Yomgam, DRCHO Dr Tope Yomcha, HM Imi Gamlin, from development partner UNDP SPO Subhit Saikia, Eastern Zone PO Hage Chatung, UWIN eastern zone coordinator B Gogoi, Namsai District Hospital MO Dr RP Deori,the HWO, the ANM of the HWC in Manmow, and teaching staff of the GSS, Manmow.

Speaking on the occasion, the DC informed that currently 12 vaccines are available under the routine immunisation programme to protect children from 12 dreaded diseases, and appealed to all to spread the message. He further emphasised on cent percent immunisation coverage of all the eligible beneficiaries. (DIPROs)
