RONO HILLS, 17 Mar: The psychology and sociology departments of Rajiv Gandhi University (RGU) here are jointly organising a national workshop on ‘Quantitative & qualitative research methodology and capacity building’, which got underway on Monday.
The workshop, spanning from 17 to 23 March, is aimed at enhancing research competencies among researchers in behavioural sciences.
Addressing the inaugural ceremony, RGU Finance Officer Prof Otem Padung highlighted the benefits of the workshop, emphasising the innovative ideas that the participants would gain, while Registrar Dr NT Rikam underscored the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration and encouraged active participation in discussions.
Vice-Chancellor (i/c) Prof Jayadeba Sahoo stressed the significance of rigorous research methodologies in shaping policies, aligning with the Indian government’s ‘Viksit Bharat’ initiative, and enhancing mental capacity through knowledge acquisition from experts.
Sociology HoD Dr Bikash Bage also spoke.
The workshop commenced with lectures by Prof Sanjram Premjit Khanganba from IIT Indore on ‘Experimental paradigm: Design & analysis” and Prof Vijyendra Pandey from the Central University of Karnataka on the ‘Mixed method approach and triangulation’.
With a total of 20 scientific sessions, the workshop will cover various aspects of qualitative and quantitative research methodologies. Academicians from premier institutions, including Prof Kumar Ravi Priya from IIT Kanpur, retired professor Damodar Suar from IIT Kharagpur, and Dr Shail Shankar from IIT BHU, will provide insights into advanced research methodologies and analytical techniques.
Approximately 60 participants, along with faculty members and PhD scholars from various departments, have registered for the national workshop.
