Joint secy calls for coordination for early construction of FTI

JOLLANG RAKAP, 29 Jul: Union Information & Broadcasting Ministry Joint Secretary KK Nirala urged all stakeholders to work in close coordination to establish the Film and Television Institute (FTI), Arunachal Pradesh as a centre of excellence in film and media education.

The joint secretary said this after reviewing the progress of the ongoing construction work at the FTI during his visit to the campus here on Tuesday.

He was accompanied by Papum Pare Deputy Commissioner Vishakha Yadav, Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute (SRFTI) Director Samiran Dutta, and FTI Arunachal Pradesh Deputy Registrar Utsav Paramer.

The joint secretary inspected infrastructure facilities, including the classroom theatres, library, girls’ hostel, dining block, classroom, accommodation block, etc.

He took note of the delays in certain infrastructure components due to differences in the scope of work and payment schedules, and directed the construction agency, M/s Kenge Construction Company, to submit a documented list of these issues in consultation with the CPWD, backed with supporting materials.

“These differences need to be resolved immediately to accelerate the work in the campus,” he reiterated.

Nirala also reviewed the progress of key service infrastructure, including the water supply project, power facilities, waste management system, and transportation. He stressed on timely completion of the classroom theatres, which are integral to academic delivery.

DC Vishakha Yadav assured full administrative support to the institution. She announced that regular patrolling would be initiated in the campus area for safety and security, and that facilitation of inner line permits for students and faculty would be undertaken by the district administration.

The team also conducted site inspections of both completed and under-construction buildings. Of the 21 planned buildings, 10 have been completed and handed over to the institute.

The construction company informed that the CRT classroom and the performance lab – both major demands raised by students during their protest in May 2025 – have now been completed, addressing one of the key concerns of the students.

M/s Kenge Construction Company also submitted a detailed timeline for completion of the remaining work, and assured to adhere to the proposed schedule.

Among those present during the review were PHED Itanagar Division Executive Engineer Tad Logi, Electrical Executive Engineer Rajesh Dawe, PGCIL General Manager Arun Tiwari, representatives from the Tata Projects Limited, local GPM Taba Kunya,and land donors of the Jollang Rakap area. (DIPRO)
