GUWAHATI, 18 Aug: The corporate social responsibility (CSR) wing of the AmritCem – Amrit Foundation, in collaboration with Akshar Foundation, conducted a daylong Deepor Beel cleanup drive as a part of the 79th Independence Day celebration.
During the event under the theme ‘Freedom to learn, power to grow’, students under Akshar Foundation schools, including Akshar Forum students, along with AmritCem volunteers on 14 August collected 78 kilograms of plastic waste from Deepor Beel, Assam’s only Ramsar wetland site and a biodiversity treasure, sending a strong message on collective responsibility to protect the environment.
The event also featured an art and craft competition, where children showcased their vision of a cleaner, greener, and more sustainable India.
This was followed by the celebration of 79th Independence Day on 15 August with NCC parade and cultural performances.
As the flagship brand of Amrit Cement Limited, AmritCem has been a cornerstone of the cement industry for over 15 years. Known for its high-quality products, it has built a strong presence across Northeast India, said a release.
