Anti-Ragging Week observed at CHF

PASIGHAT, 19 Aug: The College of Horticulture & Forestry (CHF) here in East Siang district observed the Anti-Ragging Week from 12-18 August with a series of programmes.

Hostel level sensitization, virtual participation against ragging and cyber-ragging, quiz competition, elocution, and essay writing competition with themes revolving around anti-ragging were held as part of the observation.

All the wardens of the hostels in the campus organized sensitization programmes, in which all the boarders took active participation.

The closing ceremony was attended by DSP Ayup Boko and NGO AYANG founder Aini Taloh.

CHF Professor P Raja highlighted the significance of discipline among the new-generation students, and Prof Bikram Singh spoke on “the relevance of brother-sister relationships, rather than senior-junior perception to avoid any incidence of ragging.”

Boko emphasized on “exhibiting the power of seniority through academic excellence, getting through exams like civil services, and never by indulging in bullying juniors.”

Taloh told the students that she has always been a mother figure for the CHF faculty members, and thereby she is like a grandmother to them. She assured to provide any support that would help them emotionally and mentally.

CHF Dean Prof A Herojit Singh advised the students to treat the campus as family, and faculty members and fellow students as their “siblings.”

The programmes were coordinated by SWO Dr N Devachandra, Assistant SWO Dr Ajay Kumara, and Assistant NSS PO Dr PK Nimbolkar.
