ITANAGAR, Sep 21: Former MP Takam Sanjoy has stated that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s official programme in Itanagar is being belittled and demeaned by turning it into a BJP party rally under the guise of an official event.

Sanjoy alleged that the BJP and its governments at the Centre and in the state are hell-bent on violating the Constitution and its established protocols. He said this blatant misuse of an official programme could lead to “unprecedented democratic trauma” in the country, particularly in a peaceful state like Arunachal Pradesh.

“We condemn such actions, which no state government in Arunachal has ever undertaken in the past. This is a mischievous adventure,” said Mr. Takam Sanjoy, former MP and senior Congress leader.

Sanjoy further cautioned the BJP, claiming that instead of welcoming the Prime Minister with the National Tricolour, the BJP and its government have filled the city of Itanagar with BJP flags. “This is nothing short of the murder of democracy and a violation of constitutional guarantees and national protocols,” Sanjoy alleged.
