MIAO, 21 Sep: Senior Congress leader Sethai Sena passed away on Sunday afternoon at his residence in Nongtham village in Changlang district.
He was 56 years old, and is survived by his wife and three children.
Sena had been battling cancer for quite a long time.
Born in 1969 to late Sechey Sena and late Nyawom Sena, he did his schooling from the Kharsang Secondary School and graduated from St Edmund’s College, Shillong, Meghalaya, in 1992.
Sena entered into active politics in 2004 and served as anchal chairperson from 2004 to 2008. He was the president of the Changlang District Congress Committee (DCC) for three terms from 2009 to 2017, and then again from 2022 until his death.
He was also the first president of the Changlang District Football Association and was serving as president of the Chamchang-Sheychu Society at the time of his demise.
The Changlang DCC deeply mourned the demise of the veteran party leader and said, “His unwavering dedication, commitment to public service, and decades-long contribution to the party and the people of Changlang will be remembered with great respect and admiration.”
Its Working president Pinna Kitnal Muklom Singpho added in the statement that Sena’s passing was a huge loss for the party in the state.
Conveying heartfelt condolence to the bereaved family, the DCC prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul.
His last rites will be performed on Monday.
