TATO, 16 Dec: A driver engaged in the Tato-Mechukha road construction has been reported missing from Tato camp in Shi-Yomi district.

The missing person, Hariram alias Biju Magar, a resident of Pasighat in East Siang district, was appointed under M/s AK Enterprises, which is currently executing the road construction work from Tato to Mechukha. Hariram joined duty at Mechukha on 18 November this year.

According to a complaint lodged by the family of the missing driver, on 7 December, the in-charge/supervisor of the Tato camp called three drivers, including Magar, to report for duty at Tato. He performed his assigned duties until 9 December. However, on 12 December, the camp in-charge reportedly informed Magar’s wife Meena Thapa around 8:30 pm that her husband was missing, but did not lodge an FIR at the nearest police station.

After repeated but unsuccessful search efforts by family members, a missing FIR was lodged on 14 December at the Tato police station. The East Siang unit of the All Arunachal Pradesh Public Transport Federation (AAPPTF) also filed a zero FIR at the Pasighat police station.

The AAPPTF unit warned that if M/s AK Enterprises fails to trace the missing driver within three days, it, along with its West Siang district unit, will enforce a road blockade. No construction materials or trucks of the company will be allowed to pass through East Siang district during the protest, the AAPPTF said.

The AAPPTF’s East Siang unit president Einstein Ratan appealed to the Shi-Yomi deputy commissioner to take action against the in-charge/supervisor of M/s AK Enterprises. He also appealed to the public to assist in the search operation and share any information about the missing driver at 9741793234.

Magar, father of two daughters, is approximately 5.4 feet tall, has a mark on his right wrist, a visible fracture mark on his left leg, and has a fair complexion.
