AALO, 24 Mar: A six-day training programme for Census 2027 (Phase I) began here in West Siang district on Monday, marking a key preparatory step for the upcoming house-listing and housing census(HLO).

The programme is being conducted for regular assistants/clerks, as well as technical assistants engaged as contractual manpower. It aims to equip the participants with the necessary skills and guidelines required for accurate data collection and effective field operations during the HLO phase.

Officials informed that the training is covering personnel from four districts – West Siang, Siang, Shi-Yomi, and Leparada – ensuring a coordinated and standardised approach across the region.

The sessions include detailed briefings on census procedures, use of digital tools, data handling protocols, and field-level responsibilities.

The initiative reflects the administration’s commitment to ensuring a smooth and efficient rollout of Census 2027 activities. Proper training at this stage is expected to enhance the accuracy and reliability of the data collected during the house-listing phase, which forms the foundation for the population census.

Authorities emphasised the importance of active participation and adherence to guidelines by all trainees, noting that the success of the census operation largely depends on the preparedness of field-level functionaries. (DIPRO)
