LIKABALI, 24 Mar: On the occasion of the World Water Day, a plantation drive was conducted in the Gogi catchment area here in Lower Siang district recently to highlight the importance of water conservation and sustainable resource management.

The programme was organised by the Likabali PHE&WS division, in collaboration with the district administration and the forest department. The initiative was led by PHED Likabali Division EE Binga Gara.

Despite inclement weather, around 50 members from the departments concerned participated in the drive, during which approximately 400 tree saplings were planted in the catchment area of Gogi water source.

The plantation drive served as a symbolic and practical step towards conserving water sources, improving groundwater recharge, and maintaining ecological balance in the region. It also reinforced the message of the World Water Day, emphasising the need for collective responsibility in safeguarding water resources. (DIPRO)
