BOMDILA, Jul 25: Five hundred saplings of Illicium griffithii were planted in a stretch of 0.75 hectares along the sinking zone in between the lower gompa and the power house here in West Kameng district on Saturday.
Spearheaded by DC Karma Leki, the plantation drive was carried out under the ‘Clean, green Arunachal’ campaign to prevent landslides, apart from beautifying the township area.
The saplings were provided by the forests & environment department here.
Lower gompa abbot Guru Tulku Rinpoche also joined the plantation drive.
RFO TD Megaji assured to fence the area.
Administrative officers, HoDs, the secretary of the Bomdila Town Committee, monks, and officials of the forest department took part in it. (DIPRO)
