RUNNE, 22 Feb: The newly constructed dere (community hall) here in East Siang district was inaugurated by social worker Oyak Ering, in the presence of MLAs Kaling Moyong and Ninong Ering and others on Monday.
The Runne Employees Welfare Association (REWA) had voluntarily contributed Rs 15 lakhs for the construction of the dere.
Various local and social issues were discussed by the elders of the village on the occasion, and it was decided that a statue of the modern architect of Arunachal, Daying Ering, would be installed in the village.
Pasighat East MLA Kaling Moyong said that Runne has huge potential to be turned into a tourists’ destination if properly developed. He assured to provide fund for the construction of a boundary wall around the dere, besides some amount for installation of the Daying Ering statue.
Pasighat West MLA Ninong Ering also assured to provide some amount from his MLALAD fund for the installation of Daying Ering’s statue and beautification of Runne.
Earlier, REWA general secretary Talut Siram appealed for conservation and preservation of the environment, and informed that the villagers have surrendered their air guns to the forest department.
