ITANAGAR, 20 Apr: Kolkata (WB)-based Food Safety & Standards Authority of India’s (FSSAI) Eastern and Northeastern Regional Director Pramod Dahitule called on Governor BD Mishra at the Raj Bhavan here on 20 April, and the two discussed ingredients, manufacture, preservative additions, storage, shelf life, distribution and sale of food items in fit condition to promote health and safety.
The governor urged the director to also take on the duty of promoting general awareness about food safety and food standards among the consumers in the state. He also asked the FSSAI to conduct training programmes for entrepreneurs who are into food producing and distribution business.
“Above all, the health protection of the consumers should be the prime concern of the food items manufacturers,” he said.
Mishra suggested to the FSSAI to open an office in Arunachal, so that it can provide scientific advice and technical support to the state government in the matter of food safety and nutrition. (Raj Bhavan)
