KHONSA, 18 Jun: The anti-drugs squad [ADS] of the Tirap police have arrested a major drug supplier in Tirap district and seized suspected brown sugar from her possession.
The ADS arrested P Gangsa while she was travelling in a car from Tissa to Khonsa on Friday. The driver of the car, A Wangsa, has also been arrested, Tirap SP Kardak Riba said.
Following specific information about drugs being smuggled, the ADS, led by Inspector W Kamhua, intercepted the car (AS-23J-9945) somewhere in between Tissa and Khonsa.
The SP said the car was inspected in the presence of Executive Magistrate Ripi Doni and the team recovered 5.69 grams of suspected brown sugar filled in seven plastic containers, besides Rs 33,410, two mobile phones, an ATM card, a Bolero car and a spoon for measuring drugs. All the recovered items have been seized.
P Wangsa was the main supplier of drugs in Tirap district and supplied drugs from the Tissa area.
A case has been registered against her and the driver under the NDPS Act at the Dadam police station, and further investigation is on, the SP said. (DIPRO)
