ITANAGAR, Jan 16: Nine crude oil tankers were set on fire near Namchik area along the Assam-Arunachal Pradesh border on Tuesday evening.
According to sources, the tankers were moving from Kharsang Geo-enpro oil fields in Changlang district to Digboi OIL refinery in Assam when they were set on fire near Jagun in Assam.
Security has been beefed up in the border, according to report.
Though further details are awaited, the police say that the anti-talk faction of the National Socialist Council of Nagaland (Khaplang) and ULFA are active in the area.
Tinsukia SP, MD Mahanta told the PTI that the militant set fire to the tyre and the engine parts of the tanker.
The fire brigade reached the spot immediately and doused it. It was reported that no one was injured in the incident.
