ITANAGAR, 13 Jul: Itanagar Capital Region (ICR) DMO Dr Mandip Perme appealed to the people who have not yet been vaccinated against Covid-19 to come forward and get vaccinated without paying heed to rumours and misinformation about the vaccines.
He said that refusing to get vaccinated would only increase the chances of transmission, resulting in increase in positive cases in unvaccinated areas, colonies and sectors.
“If we all take the vaccine and follow Covid-appropriate behaviour, there won’t be any need of containment measures,” Dr Perme said during a meeting convened by ICR DC Talo Potom to chalk out strategies to ensure that no one is left unvaccinated.
Dr Perme informed that a total of 82,327 people have received the first dose in the ICR and 13,505 of them got the second dose.
“As per the electoral roll, the ICR has a total population of 90,066 in the 18+ age category. But since the ICR has floating population, the data of those yet to be vaccinated would be a little high,” he said.
MLA Techi Kaso said all the corporators and ZPMs should conduct surveys within their jurisdictions to list out the unvaccinated people and encourage them to get vaccinated.
IMC Mayor Tame Phassang said that all necessary assistance would be provided to ensure cent percent vaccination coverage in the ICR.
IMWA president Yumlam Achung said that “preconceived notion exists among the people regarding vaccines, and it is necessary to generate awareness about the importance of getting vaccinated.”
All the other participants also assured the administration of their cooperation, and said that the lists of the left-out members of their associations would be provided soon.
Earlier, the DC had asked all to send lists of eligible persons who have not taken the vaccine at the earliest.
Among others, IMC Deputy Mayor Biri Basang, ICR SP Jimmy Chiram, IMC corporators, ZPMs and administrative officers attended the meeting. (DIPRO)
