NOIDA, Jan 18: A team of nine doctors and 19 lab technicians from Arunachal Pradesh led by State Programme Officer (Blood Service) Dr Nabam Budh attended a weeklong training programme on ‘blood bank standard operative procedure’ which concluded at the National Institute of Biologicals (NIB) here on Thursday.
Initiated by the state NHM mission director, the programme was aimed at imparting training to doctors and lab technicians working in blood banks in Arunachal Pradesh for safe blood transfusion.
Speaking during the training, Dr Budh termed poor diagnostic service in Arunachal Pradesh as the root cause of high out-of-pocket expenditure of people in the healthcare service and sought maximum support from the Centre.
Addressing the participants on the inaugural day, Dr Agnani said, “No health care service can be adequate without blood service. Blood service is life-saving measure, its facility should be available in all health Centre on 24×7 basis and service should be accessible to all needy people till the last border of the country, manned by trained manpower and adequate machineries.”
National Consultant Vinita Srivastava advised the participants to take active role in blood service in the state, saying that blood service is integral part of all health services without which no health of people can be improved.
She informed that the main cause of mother and infant deaths in India is lack of blood and Arunachal Pradesh is no exception, whereas most of the maternal deaths are not reported.
“To reduce maternal deaths and infant deaths the adequate supply of safe blood is the solution,” she added.
NIB Director Dr Surinder Singh, Deputy Director Dr Rebba Chhabra and a host of scientists and faculties attended the programme.
