ITANAGAR, Jan 28: The Arunachal Pradesh College Teachers’ Association (APCTA) has reiterated its longstanding demand for implementation of the 7th pay revision of college teachers of 17 government colleges in the state.
In a representation to the education minister, the association said that the pay revision as per the 7th Central Pay Commission recommendation has not been implemented even after two months of assurances from the chief minister.
‘For the last one year, all state government employees have availed their arrears and have been drawing their salaries as per the 7th pay revision, except the 369 college teachers of 17 government colleges in the state,’ the association said, adding that it may be compelled to launch a vigorous democratic movement if the pay revision is not implemented immediately.
Informing that the pending arrears to be disbursed to 369 college teachers are only Rs 22 crore, which it said ‘is just a meagre amount compared to other employees,’ the APCTA also requested the chief minister, the deputy chief minister and the education minister to disburse the arrears ‘only in cash, so that it may be used to repay loans or can be put to some useful investments.’
