PASIGHAT, 30 Nov: The maiden ‘Adi Sports Fest’, being organized by the Adi Bane Kebang Youth Wing (ABKYW), got underway at the CHF playground here in East Siang district on Tuesday.
Addressing the opening ceremony, Sports Minister Mama Natung called upon the NGOs and CBOs of the state to “play a key role in youth development of the state.”
Terming the youths of the state “the backbone of society,” the minister urged them to channel their energy into games and sports and other positive activities, saying that sports are a medium to wean the youths away from drug abuse.
Natung, who is spearheading the airgun surrender campaign in the state and advocating protection and preservation of wildlife said, “The state government with the support of the community and various stakeholders is committed to make Arunachal Pradesh the first airgun-free state in the country.”
Health Minister Alo Libang and ABKYW president Joluk Minung also spoke.
Among others, MLAs Ninong Ering and Kaling Moyong, ABK president Getom Borang, ZPC Olen Rome, and PMC Chief Councillor Okiam Moyong Borang attended the inaugural event. (DIPRO)
