NAHARLAGUN, 28 Apr: A three-day ‘3×3 epidemiology workshop (contact session 2, batch 2)’ for district surveillance officers (DSO) and epidemiologists of 13 districts of the western zone started here on Wednesday.
The workshop is aimed at strengthening the capacity to prevent, detect, investigate and respond to public health events and disease outbreaks.
The first batch of the eastern districts has already completed its second contact session. The final session for both the batches will be conducted in June.
New Delhi-based NCDC Director Dr Sujeet Kumar Singh, along with NCDC adviser Dr Sudhir Kumar Jain joined the programme as resource persons on Thursday and moderated the surveillance evaluation presentation by the DSOs and epidemiologists.
Earlier on Wednesday, Health Services Director Dr M Lego in his inaugural address encouraged the participants to use the skills they would learn from the training in public health intervention in the state.
