CHANGLANG, 30 May: Nongching Mamai, the head gaon burah (HGB) of Rangkatu village in Changlang district, passed away on 28 May at a private hospital in Margherita (Assam), following a stroke.
Late Mamai was an expert in customary laws and a good orator. He had held the post of the HGB since 1985.
He is survived by his wife, two daughters and two sons.
Longchang Elite Society (LES) president K Taijong and general secretary R Zongsam have termed Mamai’s sudden demise an
irreparable loss to the community.
In a condolence message, the LES on Monday stated, “He was a kind person and a good orator. He was a committed HGB who was always concerned for the Longchang community. The LES feels irreparable loss for our community.”
Extending heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family, the LES prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul.
Changlang-based Rang Frah Faith Promotion Society (RFFPS) also expressed shock over the untimely demise of the HGB and extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family.
“The Rang Frah Faith Promotion family prays to the almighty Rang Frah to give enough strength to the bereaved family to bear the irreparable loss. May his soul rest in eternal peace,” stated the RFFPS in its condolence message.
