ITANAGAR, 10 Jun: The Arunachal Pradesh Indigenous Tribes Union (APITU) has demanded that the state government take strong steps against those who have encroached on government quarters and public properties in the Itanagar Capital Region (ICR).
In a press conference held here on Friday, the APITU urged the government to start issuing show cause notices to the government employees or private individuals who have encroached on government quarters and other public properties.
“Around 60 percent of government quarters and public properties like land, children’s parks of twin capital cities are being illegally occupied or encroached by government servants and private individuals,” claimed APITU president Tadar Nilo.
“So we demanded state government to immediately started issuing show cause notice against all those illegal occupants, and issue eviction order against the unauthorised occupation and remove the unauthorised structures,” Nilo said.
He further alleged that government employees and private individuals are indulging in “criminal activities by illegally encroaching and occupying the public premises of government land within the ICR.”
Demanding “immediate renovation or construction” of the Papu Nallah-Donyi Polo road via the gonpa and the museum here, he stated that the road was constructed by the PWD in 2008, and asked the government to allocate fund for the maintenance and construction of culverts and drainages.
The union also demanded double-laning of the Papu Nallah-Jully road via Ganga, besides calling for early restoration of the approach road to the Sangey Lhaden Sports Academy.
