DAPORIJO, 11 Jun: Upper Subansiri DC Mika Nyori launched the third language Tagin textbook, prepared by the Tagin Cultural Society (TCS), here on Saturday.
The state government has approved the introduction of Tagin as a third language in the schools of Upper Subansiri district from the current academic session.
The DC distributed copies of the textbook to the headmasters and principals of various private schools.
Speaking on the occasion, Nyori exhorted the trained Tagin language teachers to discharge their duties sincerely.
He announced cash awards of Rs 15,000, Rs 10,000 and Rs 5,000 for the students of Class 8, 7 and 6, respectively, who will top in Tagin language during 2022-23.
DDSE Tape Jeram said that introduction of Tagin as a third language in the schools would go a long way in preserving the language.
TCS president Larji Rigia exhorted all the trained Tagin language teachers of both government and private schools to work as a team to ensure proper implementation of the language.
Rigia stated that a team of the TCS, along with the DC and the DDSE, will regularly visit both government and private schools to ensure proper implementation of the third language.
TCS human resource development secretary Dosh Dasi lauded the Pema Khandu government for creating the department of indigenous affairs to protect, preserve and promote the indigenous faith and culture of the people.
He also thanked Education Minister Taba Tedir for providing the third language textbook free of cost.
All the principals and headmasters of both government and private schools in Tagin majority areas, along with Tagin language trained teachers, attended the launch programme.
