AAPSU lodges complaint against illegal mining

ITANAGAR, 2 May: The vigilance cell of the All Arunachal Pradesh Students’ Union (AAPSU) has lodged a complaint with the Papum Pare DC against illegal mining activities in the Pare river in the district.

Stating that illegal mining activities have damaged the river to a great extent, the union’s vigilance cell chairman Nabam Tado appealed to the DC to issue an order to seize all stone crusher plants operating without licence under Doimukh subdivision, “so that these illegal activities can be controlled to some extent and save the river from further manmade destruction.”

The letter further said that those involved in mining activities “don’t abide by the environmental and mining rules and regulations and, hence, further round of talks with them will bear no fruit.”
