MIAO, 24 Oct: The 34th trainee batch of 57 range forest officers (RFO) from the Haldwani (Uttarakhand)-based Forestry Training Academy visited the Namdapha National Park & Tiger Reserve (NNP&TR) here in Changlang district on 20 and 21 October, as part of their training and tour of eastern India.
NNP&TR Field Director VK Jawal welcomed the trainees, and advised them to “take the best advantage of your visit to the world-famous national park, known for coexistence of four big cat families and its biodiversity.”
The trainees captured diverse species of butterflies, birds, mammals, and insects on camera, and closely experienced the tropical vegetation of the Namdapha National Park. They also accumulated knowledge about the best methods for protection, management and research aspects of protected areas.
The trainee officers learnt also that national parks are not just home to wildlife but also an essential factor in social, cultural, economic and industrial development, and that maintaining ecological balance is a must.
Meanwhile, the public here have welcomed the state cabinet’s approval for recruitment of 112 special tiger protection force personnel in favour of the NNP&TR, and expressed hope that the recruitment will be done on time in a fair manner.
