BASAR, 18 Nov: The Literary Society of Leparada organised its first district-level ‘literary-cum-cultural competition’ here on 17 and 18 November.
The event saw the participation of students from 23 schools of the district, and provided them a platform to showcase their talents.
The competitions included quiz, short extempore speech in English and Galo, poem recitation in English and Hindi, cursive writing, painting, essay writing and Galo traditional dance. The quiz competition was conducted in collaboration with the Memories Management Club.
“The event not only celebrated the intellectual prowess and creative finesse of the district’s young minds but also served as a platform to cherish and preserve the rich cultural heritage embedded within the community,” organising chairman Nilmoni Dhar said.
Organising secretary Tujum Basar said: “The first district-level literary-cum-cultural competition stands as a testament to the power of unity through art, education, and cultural appreciation, fostering a legacy of talent and tradition for years to come.”
The prize distribution ceremony was attended by, among others, retired principal Lirik Riba and Leparada DDSE Nyamo Rina.
Earlier, the inaugural programme was attended by Basar MLA Gokar Basar, RGU Assistant Registrar Gomar Basar, and Leparada SP Thugten Jambey.
